Cath Rogan is on a mission to help textile and garment businesses step outside their comfort zone and embrace new technologies and ways of working. Her career spans 30 years of manufacturing, developing, selling and sourcing technical textiles and performance clothing. Working in areas as diverse as personal protection (chem-bio protection, body armour), outdoor and performance sports clothing, medical products and the emerging e-textiles sector, has helped build a unique skill set and experience of successfully questioning the status quo. As ‘Smart Garment People’, since 2007, she has advised and developed products for some of the world’s leading brands in the apparel and electronics sectors, as well as government agencies and procurement bodies.

- I have been developing performance clothing and textiles for almost 30 years and since 2006, this has included e-textiles. During that time, a global financial crisis and several major trends and technologies have changed our world dramatically. As we head into another era of global uncertainty, I’ll review the impact of previous changes on the evolution of e-textiles and highlight some key emerging trends and technologies that could have an equally significant influence on the next generation of e-textile products and services.
